Avoid all temptation to classify this as a ‘celebrity’ pink wine. It has gained traction because of its association with Brad & Angelina, of course it has, but the sophistication of this offering is considerable.

Once upon a time, there was just one pink wine everyone knew from Portugal. And that wine was Mateus Rosé in its distinctive flask shaped bottle; an off-dry, faintly spritzy, undemanding drink. This lively pour from the same corner of Northern Portugal is a very modern reinvention of that tired old stalwart of the wine list.

OK, study the image and guess – where did I buy this bottle? Harrods, maybe? All will be revealed at the end of this post. It’s certainly very stylish in its Art Deco way, and would go down a storm on Miami’s South Beach. Trust an Italian, especially an organic Tuscan, to create something this elegant. But how does it taste?
