Chateau Montdoyen – Un point, c’est tout! Rose
Monbazillac is a small region of the Dordogne known for fabulous dessert wine. But here I have unearthed a delicate pink made with 50:50 Cabernet Franc and Merlot. A distinct nose of mulberry and a bite to the finish. Excellent with my wild mushroom pasta – and an unusual accompaniment to the spectacular cheese trolley.

About this Vineyard
Chateau Montdoyen sits majestically in the commune of Monbazillac in the Bergerac appellation, where proprietor Jean-Paul Hembise has replanted the 37-hectare vineyard at 5,500 vines per hectare – the same density as the most prestigious crus of neighbouring Libourne. The estate works in the most natural way possible, using green manure, mechanical weeding, and detailed soil mapping to personalise the cultivation of each parcel. Their range spans six appellations across dry whites, reds, roses, and the gloriously sweet Monbazillac, and has earned multiple ‘coups de coeur’ from the Guide Hachette.
