Bodegas Bilbainas – Vina Pomal Garnacha Sangrado en Lagrima Rosado
It’s a Spanish duel on court at Queens Club right now. Alcaraz and Munar are dead level in the third set- so let’s sip a Spanish rosé while we admire the game? I love Viura, the creamy and spicy white grape of Rioja. Vina Pomal have combined it with classic Grenache (Garnacha) for their first pink wine. The result is stunning- a finely balanced alignment in the glass. Perfect with seafood – even better,it is currently on offer I award it 18.5 points.

About this Vineyard
Founded in Haro’s iconic Station Quarter by a group of Bilbao businessmen, Bodegas Bilbainas is the longest-standing bottling winery in Rioja and home to one of the region’s most extensive underground cellars, stretching over 3,400 square metres. Their flagship brand Vina Pomal was first released and the estate’s 250 hectares of high-quality vines – including the stunning 90-hectare Vina Pomal vineyard overlooking the Ebro – supply the fruit for their classically styled Reservas and Gran Reservas., they also pioneered sparkling wine production in Rioja using the traditional method, a spirit of innovation that continues to define this remarkable house.
