Waitrose & Partners – Waitrose Susumaniello Rose

I recently returned to Oxfordshire and I’d lost sight of Oxford’s charms- first seen long ago when I was a student. Punting on the Cherwell is a true enchantment; in the same league with a gondola in Venice. So, today I bring you an unusual and complex rosé charmer from Puglia. It’s initially all delicate charm on the nose, but opens up to a depth of melony fruit on the palate. This richness gives it the power to take on full flavours like salami, gravlax salmon or squid ink pasta. Which brings us back to Venice. Try this rather special wine for your next boating picnic. I award it 17.5 points.

About this Vineyard

Waitrose has built one of the most respected wine ranges on the British high street, guided by more Masters of Wine than any other supermarket. Their own-label tiers – Blueprint for classic styles, Loved & Found for adventurous grape discoveries, and the premium No.1 range – are all curated by an award-winning buying team and exclusive to Waitrose. The retailer has also become the UK’s largest seller of English sparkling wine with a 65% market share, and their own Leckford Estate vineyard, planted, makes them the first supermarket to grow their own grapes.
