Vignobles Foncalieu
Shelter from the sun with this gorgeous bottle of pink Grenache Rosé from the ever reliable Vignobles Foncalieu. Le Versant is a special offering from this long-established Languedoc Co-operative, featuring a label commissioned from artist Amy Jones which encapsulates some of the elements of the wine: delicate citrus, musk rose and a hint of herbal warmth. It’s a joy to sip on a hot day, ideal with fresh peaches or strawberries- but also delicious with pasta or even a prawn biriani. I award it 18 points.

About this Vineyard
Founded from the union of four village cooperatives – Fonties d’Aude, Capendu, Alzonne and Montolieu (whose initials spell out the name) – Vignobles Foncalieu has grown into the largest cooperative in the South of France. This powerhouse of 619 winegrowers cultivates 5,200 hectares across four AOPs including Minervois, Corbieres and Saint-Chinian, producing more than 50 grape varieties with a particular focus on rose, which accounts for a major share of their output. Named Best Cooperative in France by La Revue du Vin de France, Foncalieu is also a genuine innovator – they were the first to plant disease-resistant ‘Bouquet’ hybrid grape varieties back.
