Toro Loco
An insouciant Spanish rosé to make us believe it’s Spring at last? Here it is. Lively Toro Loco from Spain with its distinctive ‘raspberry jelly’ colour derived from flavoursome Bobal grapes. Bobal has a depth of colour remarkable even for Spain. Such an affordable wine yet it has plenty of tart fruit personality – and a lively crisp finish. Ready to take on smoked salmon and asparagus and prove a real complement. I award it 16.5 points.

About this Vineyard
The star of the show is the indigenous Bobal grape – first documented in the 15th century and perfectly suited to the region’s 600-900 metre elevation, Mediterranean breezes, and dramatic day-night temperature swings. Working with 3,000 winegrower families, Toro Loco has grown into one of the top 10 exported Spanish wine brands in the world, with a range spanning organic reds, a 100% Bobal rose, and even an amphora-aged La Finca cuvee.
