Bodegas Muga
A glass of rather special Muga tosé from Rioja here in Santander. The essence of Garnacha- which in itself is a quintessential Spanish varietal- a hint of spice, a curranty finish – a waft of smoke. Most enjoyable with a smoked fish salad for lunch. I award it 17.5 points.

About this Vineyard
Founded by Isaac Muga Martinez and his wife Aurora Cano in the Rioja Alta, Bodegas Muga is one of the most traditional and revered wineries in Spain, now in its third generation. Famously, every aspect of winemaking here still takes place in oak – and Muga is the only winery in Spain to employ its own master cooper, crafting around 2,000 barrels a year in their on-site cooperage. From the approachable Reserva to the legendary Prado Enea Gran Reserva (aged for at least seven years before release), these are wines of extraordinary depth, tradition, and sense of place.
