Tenuta San Leonardo – Gemma di San Leonardo

A glorious, aristocratic rosé produced in the shadow of the Italian alps, this is produced entirely from local variety Lagrein to organic standards. It has an intriguing nose of plum and bitter cherry with a sophisticated finish that cuts through dishes like salami or rich cheese sauce. Fondue, anyone ? It’s a definite18 points.

About this Vineyard

Tenuta San Leonardo is one of Italy’s most extraordinary wine estates, with a documented history stretching back to 589 AD and grapes possibly grown here since 900 AD when monks on the site made wine for mass. The Marchesi Guerrieri Gonzaga family have been custodians for over three centuries, and it was Marchese Carlo who, inspired by working alongside Mario Incisa della Rocchetta of Sassicaia fame, planted Cabernet Sauvignon and enlisted the legendary enologist Giacomo Tachis to create a Bordeaux-style red in the Italian Alps.
