Valdo – Valdo Aquarius Rose Brut
When is Prosecco not Prosecco? Riddle me this. When it’s a wonderfully kitsch and over the top bottle of pink fizz from well known producer Valdo – made with 30% Glera grapes, as used for Prosecco, and a majority of Sicilian – this makes for good depth of flavour and a longer finish than you might expect. It’s a little more frizzante than usual and would make a marvellous palate tingler before a rich Italian feast. Plus, it looks like a design by Versace! I award it 17.5 points.

About this Vineyard
Valdo is one of the founding names in Prosecco, established as Societa Anonima Vini Superiori – the very first sparkling wine house in Valdobbiadene. The Bolla family acquired it, renaming it Valdo in tribute to its beloved homeland, and three generations later this family-run producer remains a benchmark in the Prosecco world. Set in the Conegliano Valdobbiadene hills – a UNESCO World Heritage Site just half an hour from Venice – the winery is celebrated for its iconic Marca Oro line, one of the most popular Proseccos in all of Italy.
