The Ned (Marisco Vineyards) – The Ned Pinot Grigio Rose

So over in New Zealand it’s already 2022 and it’s summer. Two excellent reasons to raise a glass of this deliciously spicy pink Pinot Grigio tonight!

That delicate salmon tint in the glass is enticing in itself and the nose of fresh stone fruit is zingy, then the finish comes in clean and dry with a kick of faintly floral acidity. Perfect with all types of party food, from caviar to curry.

How does it acquire its alluring colour? By allowing the skins of the grapes contact with the juice prior to fermentation.

This carefully constructed wine is a world away from the dull Pinot Grigio served in so many bars and pubs.

So what if this is technically a white wine?

Here at the Rosé Report we are broadminded and open to experiment. So there’s a New Year’s resolution you may want to adopt?

See you in 2022.

About this Vineyard

The Ned is the flagship brand of Marisco Vineyards, founded by Brent Marris – a Marlborough native who grew up on some of the region’s very first vineyards planted by his father, and who previously created both Oyster Bay and Wither Hills. Named after one of the tallest peaks southeast of the 268-hectare Waihopai Valley vineyard that Brent used to climb as a youngster, The Ned was launched and has become one of New Zealand’s most recognisable wine brands. Marisco was named New Zealand Winery of the Year by the IWSC, and the range of Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir and Rose showcases everything that makes Marlborough special.
