Ricardelle de Lautrec – Pinot Noir Rose

It’s the return of Friday Night Rosé everyone – I thought I’d kick off with something zesty and distinctive. And with a story to tell. This organic rosy pink is from the Languedoc- but with a twist. It’s produced from Pinot Noir, not the usual southern French pink varieties. At the risk of seeming lazy, cannot help but agree with the tasting notes on the back label. Yes, it absolutely does taste (delectably) of pomegranate and yes- it would pair brilliantly with sushi. Reason being it has great structure and a sharp slice of acidity on the finish. Would work really well before a rich meal, too, as it literally makes your mouth water. In a good way.

About this Vineyard

Domaine Ricardelle de Lautrec sits on 50 hectares near Narbonne in the Languedoc, its vines stretching along the ancient Via Domitia – the Roman road that once connected Rome to Spain. Run for four generations by the Boutie family, the estate has been organic and took the ambitious step of converting to biodynamic viticulture with Demeter certification. Their wines are crafted without added sulphites using indigenous yeasts, and the range includes an impressive four different expressions of Chardonnay alongside Pinot Noir, Syrah and more.
