Ramon Bilbao – Rosado 2022
This Rioja Rosado is a bit of a lightweight – in terms of glass that is. The bottle is 40g lighter than before, a great contribution to sustainability. The wine itself is a subtle tone of palest satsuma and the flavour also recalls orange citrus with just a hint of ground almond on the finish. It’s super dry and would make a fabulous pair for oily fish such as mackerel or tuna. I award it 16.5.

About this Vineyard
Founded by the enterprising Don Ramon Bilbao Murga in the historic town of Haro, Bodegas Ramon Bilbao has spent a century at the beating heart of Rioja winemaking. Now owned by the Zamora Company and led by the talented winemaker Rodolfo Bastida, the estate cultivates over 200 hectares of Tempranillo vines aged 40 years and older across Rioja, and has expanded into Rueda for its whites. Named Best Spanish Winery by the International Wine & Spirit Competition and a fixture on the ’50 Most Admired Wine Brands in the World’ list, this is a bodega that marries tradition with restless innovation.
