Porte Noire

Can a wine be impossibly cool? Try this on for size – this bottle is a fine Provençal pink selected by wine enthusiast Idris Elba (yes, the very same) and his friend and colleague in the Porte Noire venture, Frenchman David Farber. What is Porte Noire? Apart from a mail order way to source this peachy, lychee-ish rosé with its hints of confectionery and salt at the finish? There are other wines, notably Champagne; and soon a new wine venue at Kings Cross, London, in the works- the former gasworks, to be precise.

About this Vineyard

Porte Noire is the luxury wine and champagne brand born from a shared passion between award-winning actor Idris Elba and wine expert David Farber, who visited the historic Sanger viticultural school in Champagne together. The name means ‘black door’ in French, inspired by a beautiful door Elba spotted in Morocco while planning his wedding, and the first bottles of their Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs vintage champagne were released. The range has since grown to include four champagnes, a certified organic Provence rose made with Chateau Sainte Marguerite, and a cognac in partnership with Maison Ferrand.
