Mud House – Mud House Sauvignon Blanc Rose

When is a Sauvignon not a Sauvignon? When it’s a Rosé! Yes you heard right. Somehow those wizards of Marlborough have transmogrified classic NZ Sav Blanc into a pretty pink. How on Middle Earth, I hear you ask. Easy. They add a magic splash of Merlot. The result? A thoroughly confusing tasting experience, but intriguing… first that classic gooseberry and cat’s pee nose, but on the palate something warmer, spicier. It’s one to try, a pink that would work really well with rich full-flavoured dishes like curry. Not boring!

About this Vineyard

Founded by a couple who sailed to New Zealand and fell in love with Marlborough, Mud House takes its name from the earth-built home they constructed on the land where they first planted vines. Now with 400 hectares across Marlborough, Central Otago and the Waipara Valley, and led by winemakers Cleighten Cornelius and Krystal Palmer, Mud House has become one of New Zealand’s most recognisable wine brands. Their Sauvignon Blanc accounts for half of total production, sourced from 83 different parcels across the Marlborough sub-regions.
