Les Vignerons de Tutiac – Fronton Negrette Rose
May I present an intriguing Friday Night Rosé.
Apart from pink wine, another of my passions is perfume. I have studied the subject and hope to create my own scents in due course. Will keep you posted!
This particular wine made me think about accords – that’s a word used by perfumiers to describe the way they make a fragrance work in balance.
Negrette is a very unusual grape variety (from the Haute Garonne, near Toulouse) and hard to pin down.
If you are talking perfume there is a base note – in this case, a spicy hint of something savoury, a little like liquorice. Then the middle note, which would be ripe red fruit, and, finally the top note – that something that hits you when you first put your nose into the glass (or the scent bottle). In this case I would say the wine has a fragrance of peony. This lovely flower has a richness like rose, combined with something more powdery and mysterious.
All of this for well under £10, so make haste to Sainsbury’s and try it for yourself.
Have you tried Fronton? Leave your thoughts down below, I’d love to hear!
