Domaine des Anges – Ventoux Rose 2022

A taste of Ireland in the south of France- this beautiful vineyard looks out at the fearsome Mont Ventoux- the steepest challenge for Tour de France riders. Vineyard owner Gay McGuinness came here decades ago with no previous wine experience but the place cast its spell and the small but perfectly formed wine production reaches high standards. Talking of which, there’s a connection here with the . Gay’s daughter married here in the lovely chapel – her husband is ! And the rosé? It’s a delectable rosy shade of pink with hints of russet. On the nose some nectarine and a dash of spice. There’s warmth and a savoury tang on the finish. Congratulations all round. About this Vineyard

Domaine des Anges sits at a lofty 400 metres on a hillside facing Mont Ventoux, the ‘Giant of Provence,’ where vines have been cultivated for over 2,000 years. The estate owes its modern success to an unlikely team of an Englishman, two Irishmen, and a Frenchman, who farm vineyards on varied soils ranging from calcareous clays to iron-rich stone. Named after the chapel of Notre Dame des Anges that watches over the vines from the hilltop, this is a domaine where altitude delivers genuinely cool-evening freshness — a rare and precious quality in the sun-soaked Ventoux.
