Cramele Recas
It’s hot – and we need refreshment- a rosé with a hint of residual softness at the finish takes well to chilling – and quaffing. Let me be very clear: we are not talking blush wine. I would propose this unusual blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Feteascra Neagra as your go to wine. The Cab lends structure and then the technical expertise of state of the art Romanian winery Cramele Recas gives perfectly balanced fruit and sufficient acidity. Plus, the wine is dedicated to a rain ritual which is all about dancing – May I suggest this as a Glasto wine? Perfect. I award it 17 points.

About this Vineyard
Cramele Recas is Romania’s most successful winery and largest exporter of bottled wine, located on the western fringes of Transylvania near Timisoara. Founded by three families, the estate is now led by Englishman Philip Cox and his Romanian wife Elvira, who have transformed 1,250 hectares of vineyards — some with roots dating back to Roman plantings — into a powerhouse producing 24 million litres a year. With 22 grape varieties including the native Feteasca Neagra and Tamaioasa Romaneasca, Cramele Recas is the most compelling argument for putting Romanian wine on your radar.
