Chateau Lestevenie

It was Easter Sunday and what better time to crack open some Rosé? Especially when eating delicious dishes prepared by dear friends on the banks of the Dordogne. The wine in question proved a perfect match for seafood – Chateau Lestevenie. This low sulfite pink is a Hachette award winner and a wine that is warmly tinted in the glass. Here in the Bergerac region they use Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon to cast rosé magic. Unashamedly. So there is some of that green olive going on alongside wild strawberry. Plus plenty of finish. A wine to savour at leisure.

About this Vineyard

Chateau Lestevenie is an award-winning family-run estate in Gageac-et-Rouillac in the Perigord Pourpre, producing AOC Bergerac and Saussignac wines on one of the beautiful Dordogne hillsides overlooking a hidden valley of oak woodlands. Now owned by the Terblanche family from South Africa, who took over in, the vineyard is farmed sustainably on limestone and clay-limestone soils, with careful attention at every stage from manual harvest to barrel ageing. They even boast more than fifteen species of wild orchid on the estate – a testament to the biodiversity of this enchanting corner of southwest France.
