Casanova (IGP Corsica)

Yes I realise I’m late to the party! Rosé, green jalapeño and pearls… ok … pearls are optional…so on a blissful late summer Somerset day decided it was the ideal moment to sample this craze- apparently the concept of pink wine and hot pepper was first shared on TikTok. And- I rather like it! Could not bring myself to add ice but this pretty pink from the dramatic isle of Corsica is called Casanova, so wooed me from its shelf at the Co-Op. Ignore the label, enjoy this tangy, faintly salty wine with its addition of sharp green pepper. Another plus? It looks beautiful. And makes a magical aperitif, especially served with sardine pâté or tapenade.

About this Vineyard

Domaine Casanova is the flagship wine brand of Les Vignerons d’Aghione, a cooperative on the east coast of Corsica that has been bringing together passionate winegrowing families. The Casanova label was launched and quickly made its mark with innovations including the first sparkling Corsican Muscat and one of the first roses made from pure Sciacarello grapes. With 930 hectares of vineyards cultivated by 12 families between the sea and the mountains, these IGP Ile de Beaute wines capture the aromatic elegance and island character of this extraordinary terroir.
