Cantina San Lazzaro

A delicate and fruity fizz that’s perfect with panettone- or even cheese! That’s the San Leo Italian Spumante, which at only 10.5 % makes a fabulous breakfast or afternoon sparkling choice….undemanding but with enough cherry character to make an impact on the palate. I award this wine 16.5 points and salute its affordability. Happy New Year to you all!

About this Vineyard

Poderi San Lazzaro is a small, organic estate in Offida, in Italy’s Marche region, founded by Paolo Capriotti and his wife Elisetta Carosi, who drew on several generations of family winemaking tradition. Perched on a hill 290 metres above sea level, just 15 kilometres from the Adriatic, their 9.5 hectares of vineyards are planted with the local treasures of Pecorino, Passerina, Montepulciano, and Sangiovese. These are wines of strong territorial identity, artisanal in spirit and remarkably fresh and fine.
