A Chic Rose Wine – A Chic Rose Wine
Bordeaux is a famous wine region – agreed? But – not for rosé- yet. This simply presented bottle of modestly alcoholic pink aims to alter that. There’s no mention of Bordeaux on the label but the sharp eyed among us will note the number 33 on the capsule, over the stylish glass stopper. That’s the code for France phones, but also the departmental code for the Gironde. Does this modesty pay off? Judge for yourselves. Made from Merlot, this is a very competent rosé which should appeal to all tastes: red fruits on the nose, dry finish with a citrus/ cream feel. Would I have known it was Bordelais? I doubt it! However, this region, famed for red wine, badly needs to extend its appeal. It is a great accompaniment to simple summer fare. I award this wine 16.5 points.
