M&S (Marks & Spencer) – Vinho Verde Rose

Think Portugal, think rosé and visions of Mateus come into the brain – but this lively pour from Northern Portugal is a very modern reinvention of that tired old stalwart of the wine list.  The light spritz on the palate here is all natural, and the red grapes used are fine varieties also used to make port. The result? A frisky, low alcohol (11%) wine with a nose of loganberry and a finish with just a hint of lemon zest. Perfect with paella. Vinho Verde Rosé, Marks & Spencer stores, £7 a bottle.

About this Vineyard

Marks and Spencer’s wine range is curated by an exceptional in-house winemaking team including Belinda Kleinig and Sue Daniels, who travel the world to source and blend exclusive wines. Their Vinho Verde Rose, part of the innovative Found range launched in 2020, is made by Quinta das Arcas from the indigenous Espadeiro grape blended with Touriga Nacional — a delightfully spritzy, bubblegum-pink wine with notes of pear, pink grapefruit, and strawberry-and-cream. With 80% of M&S still wines priced at ten pounds or less, the Found range is designed to champion unexpected grapes and off-the-beaten-track producers at accessible prices.
