Chateau d’Esclans – The Palm Rose
Introducing the latest addition to The Rosé Report- Friday Night Rosé! Also known as FNR it will soon rival SNL in popularity I’m sure, especially as here in the UK we are hitting up against the wall that is the End of Summer and we need something to keep us feeling motivated. What better than this accomplished and attractive pink from the fabled Whispering Angel stable of Provençal wines? The label alone is sufficient to lift our spirits but what’s inside lives up to the promise. I have to concur with UK stockist Majestic on their watermelon tasting note and would add a faint whiff of ozone and a hint of marshmallow (toasted?) to classic berries.

About this Vineyard
Chateau d’Esclans is the estate that launched a thousand rose obsessions. Acquired by Sacha Lichine, who brought in retired Mouton Rothschild winemaker Patrick Leon, this Provence property in La Motte-en-Provence ignited what many call the ‘Rose Renaissance.’ Now majority-owned by LVMH and with Patrick’s son Bertrand leading the winemaking team, the estate’s portfolio — from the wildly popular Whispering Angel to the top-tier Garrus, made from vines up to 100 years old — is sold in over 100 countries.
