Croser N/V Sparkling Rosé

As the ineffable Paul Giamatti said in the movie Sideways: “Pinot Noir needs constant care and attention. You know? In fact, it can only grow in these really specific, little, tucked away corners of the world…’ He has a point. This impressive South Australian example of 100% Pinot Noir sparkling wine absolutely nails it. Because it is produced by the traditional method and includes vintage reserve wines from the same grape.

On the nose, there is ripe loganberry, mulberry and pomegranate, with warm brioche hints on the palate. The Piccadilly corner of the Adelaide Hills has a very compatible climate with that of Champagne, and it shows. Since 1985, the Croser method has included hand picking, careful grape selection and whole bunch pressing, which yield distinctive wines of notable quality and great value for money as well. This is a delight to sip by itself, but would also happily accompany a great variety of dishes from chilli crab linguini to more traditional roast chicken or pork. So good to find a gastronomic Australian fizz.
